Science Says Men Tend to Put on the Pounds After Tying the Knot ••

A new study from the journal of Social Sciences and Medicine is throwing some serious shade at men—specifically married men. The research analyzed data from 8,729 guys from 1999 to 2013 and found that those who had gotten hitched had more chub than bachelors. Surprising? Hardly.
Researchers said single men stay fit because they’re focused on finding a partner, but after they say, “I do,” they stop putting in as much effort. Before you become another statistic, consider these easy ways to burn more calories—and please your lady in the process.

1. Have more s*x.
This one shouldn’t be too hard to convince you to do. A passionate love session can burn over 100 calories. Just do it a lot and that number multiplies. Double win.

2. Hit the gym more than once a month.
Remember that gym membership you bought in January because *new year, new me?* Well, it’s time to actually start using it. Rather than having $50 deducted from your account every month for no reason, pick up a weight or two every now and then. You’ll look better and, more importantly, feel better.

3. Do outdoor activities together.
Sure, this one may be a bit cliché, but only because it’s true. Instead of dining out or Netflixing all the time, get outdoors and do something active. Doing something like hiking, riding a bike or kayaking together burns calories.

4. Cook for her.
If your local Chinese food joint is on speed dial, it’s time to delete that number for good. Why? Because even though you’ve probably never read a recipe before, a little effort will go a long way. Not only will you get brownie points for cooking some presumably romantic meal, you’ll also be better off. Even when you order a “healthy” dish out to eat, you never know how much butter, salt or whatever else the chefs use. Cook it yourself and you can be confident it’s good for you.
