The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have had, it’s fair to say, a rollercoaster of a last ten months or so, with a disastrous season glossed over by a record-breaking FA Cup win and the promise of big name arrivals at The Emirates this summer.

There could well be some cheer for them this week, however, with reports from Calciomercato in Italy claiming that a deal for Leicester star and former Premier League champion Riyad Mahrez is done with an announcement on the horizon.

The 26-year-old shone for Claudio Ranieri’s title winning side, picking up the PFA Player of the Year award for his efforts in that historic season, however, along with most of his teammates the playmaker’s form dipped last season. Arsene Wenger, though, will be hoping that he can rise to his 2015/16 form once again when surrounded by players of a higher calibre at The Emirates.

The Gooners fans here in the Tavern are split over a move for the Algerian international, with plenty feeling that, alongside the rumoured deal for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, it could be fantastic business…

While there are plenty out there delighted by the talk of a deal, a number of Arsenal fans are not convinced by the Foxes hero…
